Week 6

16 September

Stephen and I looked further for retaining wall options at Lehi Block. I must admit I am not fond of making such decisions, including the time it takes to view various options.

17 September

I thought this was a pretty cool reflection in the pharmacy window (and, yes, that is our car).

18 September

Cayelle came to visit and asked for some of my homemade whole wheat bread.

19 September

“I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.” The sign outside our church building reminds me of this Primary song. And since today is a Sunday, it’s appropriate to note that as an active Latter-day Saint I attend three hours of meetings from 11 to 2 (Relief Society, Sunday School, and Sacrament meeting). Sometimes I’ll do Relief Society business as well, and sometimes (like today) I go back to the church for a fireside. The one I attended this evening was about Church service mission opportunities. I love being a member of the church!

20 September

Martha and Royce are the leaders for our empty nesters family home evening group that meets on the third Monday of each month. These two people are wonderful examples of service to others (going on a temple mission to Spain, serving as cubmasters, etc.). Our home evening was on ideas for blessing your grandchildren’s lives: pray for them, interact with them, watch out for loners in a group, send them mail, hug them, interview them, bear testimony to them, create incentives for them (for Eagles, etc.), and spend time with them.

21 September

On one of our Relief Society visits, Elizabeth and I were able to vist Leanna, who is here from Turkey with her husband. Leanna grew up in our ward, so it was nice to be able to visit with her.

22 September

Fall is in the air (it’s official)! This beautiful maple tree next door has a hint of the red leaves that will soon be falling all over our front lawn.
