Week 24

20 January

David, Michael, and Stephen waiting at the Khajuraho airport for our flight to Varanasi (Baranas). It was quicker (45 minutes) and easier to fly than to drive for eight hours by road!

21 January

On Stephen’s birthday we were able to see the sun rise on the Ganges River—we took a boat ride and saw sacred ghats for bathing (with the bathers), laundry rocks, and the great crematorium.

22 January

Buddhist monks and nuns visit Sarnath, where Buddha first taught the Dharma.

23 January

The branch president in the Poorvi Marg Branch, Joseph, was baptized in 1971. He is with his wife, Mary, and sons, Solomon and Simon Peter.

24 January

The restrooms in the New Delhi airport sported pictures of varying Indian men and women—no mistaking which one to go in!

25 January

Back home from India, I can acknowledge this gift basket given to the family from the staff at Jamestown in honor of Stephen’s dad, who spent his last year there.

26 January

Tawna and Maxine are walking at the track—we don’t love going to the fieldhouse in winter, but at least we keep trekking!
